Preventing Injuries on the Farm

This week is “Farm Safety Week” in Saskatchewan and across Canada. Preventing injuries on the farm is a major concern for both farmers and governments alike.

Accidents happen when we are in a hurry, or when we’re not rested. These 2 factors are commonplace in many farmers working day. Farmers are constantly hurrying to keep up with weather systems and changing seasons, and a lack of sleep generally starts with seeding and continues until after harvest (perhaps with a short summer nap in between!).

“This week helps to remind farmers and ranchers to keep farm safety at the forefront of any operation year round,” Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart said.
