About Regina: Regina was founded in 1882, when the Canadian Pacific Railway, then being built across western Canada, reached the area that Regina now sits. After Saskatchewan became a province on September 1, 1905, Regina was officially named the capital in 1906. The city is the second-largest in the province, after Saskatoon and is a commercial centre for southern Saskatchewan. Regina is home to the province’s CFL team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders since 1910 and has been going strong ever since!

The city of Regina has a rich farming history and is also home to Canada’s Farm Show which brings more than 30,000 producers, manufacturers, buyers and industry experts together for a global summit of innovation in dryland farming, technology, and business.
After the Second World War, Regina grew as a regional distribution centre for farming and rural activity. It was not until the 1970s that the economy begin to shift from agriculture to industrial-based activity, although agriculture continues to dominate the economy of Regina and province as a whole. Common crops in this region are rotation of crops including durum wheat, canola, flax and pulse crops including lentils or dry peas.
